Hello, I’m Janette and I live in Edinburgh, Scotland.
I have also lived and worked in London, Hong Kong and Singapore and I have spent many months travelling the length and breadth of India. Recently I have started to explore the Baltic regions and, at the other end of the world, Argentina.
From this you can see that I love to discover new places, not only overseas but in Scotland as well. I like to take my time, sit and watch the world go by and imagine the lives of the people I see.
I also love to live in a good book - old books, new books, it doesn't matter, I like to escape and be a part of their world. Mostly I enjoy a sense of place and good characterisation rather than a dramatic plot. I don't have a favourite book but if I were stranded on a desert island I would want to have To Kill a Mockingbird, The Grapes of Wrath, The Raj Quartet and The Enchanted April with me. And for a bit of light hearted mystery - the books of Joanne Harris. But I love so many more ....
I also like to write, to create new stories in the settings I know so well. Inspiration can also come from a conversation, a sentence, a painting or photograph or a memory. I have short stories published in anthologies and on-line but someday I hope to gather together all the scribbles and ideas I have in various notebooks and write a novel.
